The Siringit Vision
At Siringit we believe that your memories should matter, that our collective travel print should be conscious to benefit communities in Tanzania and inspire opportunity for economic empowerment.
We value community and respect for people and nature, which are fundamental to Tanzanian culture.
That’s why we started Siringit Foundation. Through the Foundation, we can give back to the community and the environment, in order for us to show you this beautiful country and everything it has to offer. We work on four cornerstones: education, reforestation, conservation and sustainability.
We hire and source locally, and it’s important to us to include local cultures in the Siringit experience. That’s why you’ll have the opportunity to hear stories from Maasai warriors around the campfire - they play a key role in guest security and
protection.
We believe that education is the key to empowering communities and empowering people out of poverty. Every child has a right to education. It is the water that will make a child’s dream a reality in the future.
And we want to give back to nature and the communities, in order to keep our footprint as small as possible.
Investing in Education
Every child has a right to proper education and we firmly believe that this is the key for securing a brighter future. Our priority is to give as many children as possible access to education through our sponsorship program.
By investing in education, creating a safe inspiring environment for children to learn about wildlife and conservation, and providing children with a basic right to a quality education, we provide the nourishment for the trees of the future to grow.
Currently, Siringit Foundation provides support for children and students to ensure their continued enrolment in school and access to educational opportunities. We cover various expenses, including school materials (such as exercise books, pens and pencils), school uniforms, remedial classes, cooked school lunches and emergency medical fees (in the event of hospitalization at school), among other essentials. Throughout time there are sponsored students who have reached secondary education and even college and university.
Next to the sponsorship program, we support Baraa Primary School, a governmental school located in Arusha. This collaboration began in 2009, initially through a Belgian NGO called iThemba, of which the owner of Siringit is also a founder.
The primary focus at the start was to enhance the school’s infrastructure by constructing new classrooms, sanitary facilities, a library, a computer room, and providing essential supplies such as books and stationery. These efforts aimed to create improved learning conditions for the children attending the school.
For the future, our aim is to surround our sponsored students as much as we can on different subjects, to make them grow stronger and help them to have an impact on their community in their turn.
And you can help us with that! You can sponsor a child, to give them access to education. Or you can give a donation to Siringit Foundation, so we can continue our work.
How you can help us help
Sponsor a student
Give a student access to quality education with our sponsorship program.
For €600 per year (or €300 in co-sponsorship) you give the chance to a student to enroll in a private school. We pay the school fees, uniforms and school materials; and we stay close to the student and their family to keep them motivated and reach as far as possible.
Donate a Giftpack
By purchasing these packages, you can provide support to a child (and their family) but also contribute to the sustainability our mission.
Each package is thoughtfully curated to meet the unique needs and interests of sponsored children at different stages of their lives.

Pack-for-a-Purpose
Each Siringit property works with the Pack-for-a-Purpose initiative, in which guests take supplies to community based projects in the area they’re visiting.
The supply lists for destinations on this website are provided directly by the local community-based that receive and use the supplies, enabling travelers to make informed decisions and to take items that meet the needs of those who will be using them.
Investing in (Re)Forestation
Tourism has a huge impact on nature and the ecosystem, so it’s important to protect this for future generations. Not only tourism, but also daily life in Tanzania has its impact. Forests are disappearing at an alarming rate, which has a huge impact: rivers dry up, the glaciers of Kilimanjaro are melting, different species of animals and plants are endangered. The Siringit Foundation understands that collaboration is essential - we can’t address these challenges alone. Through the Kilimanjaro Project, we’ve partnered with a like-minded organization that shares our vision of a greener world.
The Kilimanjaro Project nurtures indigenous trees along the riparian zones of Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru to promote conservation, biodiversity, and watershed restoration. They have a seedbank and two tree nurseries where they can grow up to 100,000 trees per season per nursery. These trees are planted in a strategic way to restore forests.
The Kilimanjaro Project also has a mission to protect the Prioria Msoo, an endangered indigenous species of trees that can be found almost only in Kilimanjaro. They managed to collect over 150kg of seeds, from which 10,000 seedlings are growing in the nursery. They do all this in close collaboration with the local community.
Through Siringit Foundation we contribute to this wonderful project, but you too can give a helping hand. You can grow a tree, for example one tree per bed night you stay in Tanzania, to give back to nature.
Investing in Conservation
Siringit Foundation started a collaboration with Friends of Serengeti. Their vision is that those who use and benefit from Serengeti, need to give back. Through connections with travel company members and other funders, they can invest in conservation in different ways, like investing in infrastructure and equipment for rangers, educational projects for students, women empowerment projects, a radio program, etc. They do all this work in strong cooperation with the local communities.
We chose to invest in the protection of rhinos. They are a highly endangered species. The population has declined severely because of hunting and poaching. Rhinos play a crucial role in the ecosystem, helping shape the landscape by grazing and facilitating the growth of grasses that support countless other species. However, due to the illegal demand for rhino horns, these animals have been hunted mercilessly, and their populations have been decimated.
Without urgent intervention, we risk losing one of the world’s most ancient species forever. That’s why we have joined forces with Friends of Serengeti Switzerland to ensure that the Serengeti remains a safe haven for rhinos and other endangered wildlife.
By supporting our partnership with Friends of Serengeti, you are directly contributing to the preservation of one of the most endangered animals on the planet. Your donation helps fund crucial anti-poaching patrols, supports local communities, and strengthens the infrastructure needed to safeguard these animals. Together, we can ensure that the Serengeti remains a place where rhinos thrive once again.
Investing in Sustainability
We acknowledge the critical importance of sustainable practices in fulfilling our mission to conserve vast African wilderness areas for future generations.
Our unwavering commitment to sustainability drives us to continually reduce our ecological footprint while also striving to enhance the livelihoods of our employees and neighboring communities.
Our efforts include utilizing locally sourced materials, such as recycled metal frameworks and durable stretch canvas, ensuring enduring solutions for the luxury camping experience. We also prioritize refillable glass amenities and provide refillable water bottles, among other initiatives. We’re undertaking initiatives such as installing renewable energy sources, upgrading to more efficient equipment, constructing energy-efficient buildings, and educating our staff on the importance of energy conservation.
Siringit works together with Okota and Chanzi. Chanzi tackles waste management issues in East Africa. They collect and sort all mixed municipal solid waste. Inorganic waste streams such as plastics are recycled by their sister company, Okota into raw materials. Those materials are used again for other products. Organic food waste is converted into nutritious protein for animal feed and organic fertilizer using the Black Soldier fly. This way almost 100% of our waste is recycled and doesn’t end up at landfill.
